Surviving College
Laying the Foundations for Moral Life

Surviving College Book Cover

Surviving College gives emerging adults concreted ideas to help ensue that their college years will be a worthwhile and civilizing experience.

This comprehensive, thoroughly researched book is truly an eye opener as it lays bare the rash and reckless advice given and received by too many college students. It offers hope for survival in college despite the many uncivilizing aspects that are often part and parcel of a college student's experience

Surviving College asks readers to examine their own personal wellness as they contrast facts and data with commonplace lifestyles on campus. As they created and work toward their personal, social, psychological, academic, spiritual and physical goals, they become mindful of the spent arrow, the spoken word and the lost opportunity. This interactive book will help students leave college healthy and whole - body, mind and soul.

A Book for All Seasons
Journaling with Sunday Scriptures

A Book for All Seasons is a valuable tool that can be used by anyone who wants to enrich their Mass experience. The readings found in A Book For All Seasons will differ slightly from those you hear during mass because the readings used are based on the Latin Vulgate editions - Sixtus V and Clement Vlll - rather than the New American Bible currently authorized by the USCCB for the Sunday Lectionary and its readings. Nevertheless, it is still easy to follow along. In fact, I would like to suggest that the older translations are frequently more richer than contemporary translations.

The book also provides space for taking homily notes. All too often families try to discuss the readings and the homily but can be frustrated by their lack of recollection of the readings and the homily. This book will facilitate discussion after the Mass.

This book provides the reader with reflections, questions, & space to write your weekly commitment. Beautiful, stained glass window photographs divide the liturgical seasons; they remind us of God’s beauty, majesty and glory discovered within each season. A Book for All Seasons opens flat to facilitate your journaling

Black & White
An Examindation of God's Moral Laws
by Linda Kracht

Black and White compares and contrasts the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes and more. This 13 lesson curriculum emphasizes what students should be doing as Catholics based on God's timeless moral laws; it also examines today's relevant moral questions in light of moral laws. Whether you are a parent-educator or classroom instructor of teens or young adults, Black and White: an examination of God's moral laws is a perfect curriculum & instructional tool for your students.

Black and White is geared for the teen or older student enrolled in Confirmation Classes, CCD Classes, RCIA Instruction, High School Religion Classes, or Home-based Instruction. It also works as a great tool when performing a personal examination of conscience prior to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

A parent/teacher guide is also available to accompany Black & White.

Daughters Forever, Sons Forever

Helping Parents Connect with Teens on Important Issues
By Linda Kracht

Granted the Nihil Obstat by the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Mpls. June 2009

Synopsis--Daughters Forever, Sons Forever

Britney Spears in rehab, again! Rappers and athletes in trouble with the law. Ads everywhere telling teens if they see something they want, they should have it now. Educators, legislators and physicians who believe teenage sex is inevitable, so let’s be sure it’s “safe.”

These are just some of the messages American teens hear over and over and over again. With STD's on the rise, and a constant assault on teenage souls coming from all aspects of the culture, it’s no wonder today’s parents abandon their parental duty to raise children in the faith. Parenting today is HARD! Parents who stay in the fight to raise Godly teens can sometimes feel as if they’re engaged in a full-scale culture war. Well, they are! And Daughters Forever, Sons Forever is their field guide.

Daughters Forever, Sons Forever offers Catholic parents solid information, sound research, and practical advice to guide adolescents through the minefield that is modern culture. Use this book to help keep teens focused on God’s plan for them so they grow safely into adulthood. While this program is written from a decidedly Catholic perspective, this book is a must read for any Christian parent wanting to stay connected to their teen; wanting to help their teens navigate dangerous land mines; and wanting to form them into solid Christ following adults with their purity and health intact.

Linda Kracht, author of The Art of Breastfeeding, launched a faith-based sex education program more than a dozen years ago for a St. Paul, Minnesota parish high school. It is from this program that Daughters Forever, Sons Forever emerged. Linda brings a reasoned voice, research culled from top sources, and undying passion to her message that parents can, and should, protect their teens from the culture of death and the over-sexualized messages that consistently barrage them.

The Art of Breastfeeding
Empowering Women to Give Their Babies the Best Start
By Linda Kracht & Jackie Hilgert

Synopsis--The Art of Breastfeeding

Breast is Best! It's the mantra taken up by policy makers and the scientific community as evidence of the myriad benefits of breastfeeding continues to mount. At the same time, mothers who breastfeed tell us there is more to the breastfeeding relationship than simply providing their babies with superior nutrition and health benefits. For many women, the nurturing component to breastfeeding is what draws them to the Art and keeps them practicing. The Art of Breastfeeding examines the science that underlies the nurturing relationship that gives babies their best possible start in life. It also helps women perfect the Art as the relationship with their babies develops over time.

Look to The Art of Breastfeeding to understand why breastfeeding is best; learn how to get breastfeeding off to a good start; get tips for navigating common obstacles; understand the developmental importance of baby-led weaning; and learn the body's clues to understanding the postpartum transition state and the return of fertility. The Art of Breastfeeding does more than champion the numerous benefits of providing an infant with superior nutrition; it celebrates breastfeeding as a gift God designed for mothers and babies, yet one that also benefits fathers, families, and society as a whole. If you want to understand why breastfeeding is experiencing a renaissance, look no further than The Art of Breastfeeding.

Emerging Son
By Tom Bengtson

Emerging Son is an autobiographical memoir about a man’s journey to a purposeful midlife from youthful uncertainty. The author’s quest to recreate the happiness of his youth takes him from the newsroom to the courtroom as he launches a career, from the Midwest to Rome as he deepens his faith, and to South America as he builds a family. Tom Bengtson looks to his father as an example but ultimately discovers he has to look within himself for answers to life’s questions about faith, family and work.

The book opens with Tom recalling the lessons he learned as a kid when he sailed with his dad. Sailing teaches him to pay attention to details, to forget about things he can’t control and to make the most of what he has — lessons that prove valuable as Tom later becomes a writer, entrepreneur, husband and father.
